Travel Beyond Horizon

Travel beyond horizon

Confined to the room eight by eight, I was lying in my bed pale and fragile. My freedom was snatched away by the expert doctor whose prescription included a week fixed in an isolated place. Pretty boring it was for a high-spirited person to freeze in a tiny square! My ambitions to travel in summer vacation were snubbed by seasonal flu.
I was waiting for the dull week to pass. And that was not too far.
.
Seventh-day got me excited for the remaining holidays. Feeling energetic, I was ready and raring to go.

“Here’s a parcel for you!” My brother came running in.

With my name written in bold letters, the parcel was bigger than I had ever received. “Who could have sent this?”
Murmuring to myself, I opened the parcel with curiosity. A typed letter and a few smaller packets popped up. The letter read,” This is in response to your application no. XCZR 768095 dated May 12, 2016. You are one of the few luckiest people shortlisted by NASA to space travel for predetermined days. Now read it once again in bold;)”
Next, I was sitting in a spacecraft with twenty odd passengers. More than introducing ourselves, we were busy figuring out the criteria of selection by NASA. As the spacecraft waved goodbye to our planet Earth, the gravity pull was horribly reduced. Those without belts were flying in the cabin like birds with little control over their movements. Realising that we were in space, boundless excitement and confusion gripped us. But that was something we had been dying to experience.

Once recovered my calmness, I tried to check how space looked from space. I could see millions of stars, point stars, some of them having colours. Galaxies, yes, I noticed many galaxies but it was not possible to spot constellations. The miraculous visit to space was at the top of my Bucket List and it truly was an enriching experience.

“Sis!”
My brother was waking me up. To my astonishment, it was all dream. I was on earth and still not qualified by NASA for space travel! TV screen was displaying the last scene of ‘Interstellar‘.

I’ve written this post for the in association with IndiBlogger.
