OH YES, I Love Bollywood Gossip!

Bollywood gossip is one of those few things I survive on. What are the chances of this Bollywood actress marrying that cricketer? Which celebrity was seen going out on a date with some ‘unknown’ person? My curious sense tracks the news and hunts down interesting outcomes. It’s not just me, more than half the population of India is in love with Bollywood gossip and they are proud to confess.

I’m amazed to see how these Bollywood actors manage to keep their lives delightfully happening. When I say that I go through the news regularly, it means that my Page-3 information is up to date;)

Alia Bhatt Rejected Aamir Khan’s Movie

The latest in the kitty is that Alia Bhatt might have rejected Aamir Khan’s movie, OSHO because she was committed to Salman Khan’s INSHALLAH. Alia was to play Ma Anand Sheela in Osho biopic where Aamir is supposed to play the spiritual Guru Rajneesh Osho.

source

*Alia didn’t want to miss out on working with Salman and her favourite director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and said no to all the other projects that were offered to her. But luck had something else in store for these actors. Sanjay Leela Bhansali shelved the film ‘Inshallah’ because of the creative differences with Salman Khan.

*The film Inshallah would have been the most anticipated Bollywood collaboration as Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Salman Khan had decided to work together after almost twenty years. Their last joint venture was ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ in 1999.

*Sanjay Leela Bhansali is the director who respects his actors and considers their suggestions but up to some extent. One of the best directors of our film industry, Bhansali doesn’t entertain any interference with his creative concepts. The limit might have been crossed by the actor Salman Khan and Bhansali dumped his ambitious venture. Ouch! Think about Alia guys! She had reserved all her dates for Inshallah. Other projects were refused because she wanted to focus on this ambitious film. Now, what’s the plight of Bollywood’s favourite girl, Alia? She is certainly upset over the unexpected unfolding of the incidents.

*Meanwhile, Salman Khan has tweeted that Sanjay Leela Bhansali film has been postponed but he would come up with another one this Eid. A great way to stay true to his ritual of releasing a film on every Eid.

*Another tweet from Salman’s handle clued that he will not disappoint his fans and present a big release this Eid though not Inshallah.

Ahem. Ahem.

*If speculations are to be believed, the Salman-movie to be released this Eid is Kick-2. Fans, who wait for their favourite superstar’s movie every year during festival season, are excited by the news.

**Another rumour ruling social media is that the mother of a Bollywood actress is fighting with her daughter’s husband over the latter’s property. The authenticity of the gossip that’s spreading like a fire can’t be denied and I’m working on it. Click to know who the family is and why the fight is brewing among its members.

7 Things to know before buying a DSLR

Owning a DSLR is the favourite dream of many. You may be one of them. You scroll through the infinite buying options and get confused, postpone the idea and preserve your dream for the next opportunity. Today I’m here to help you come out of the postponing-mode by sharing some tips to buy a DSLR camera. I’ll discuss everything from features of a DSLR to the bestπŸ‘‰ DSLRπŸ‘ˆdeals in the market. Keep reading!

1) Passion For Photography

I know your friends boast about their newly acquired DSLRs. They are considered more tech-forward, more fashionable than you. Oh! Is this the only reason to buy the gadget! Stay sane man!!

Ask yourself. Are you buying the DSLR camera because you have a passion for photography or is it just following the crowd blindly? Own the amazing DSLR camera if you can’t do without it. Otherwise, there’s no use keeping the high-utility gadget in the cupboard.

2) Kind Of Photography You Do

Before purchasing a DSLR, the purpose should be clear in your mind. You are clicking pictures of family and want a low-end DSLR. You are a professional photographer and want a high-end camera to cater to the needs of your clients. You are a wildlife photographer who wants his pictures perfectly natural, aims to get the best one available. Find out your category and choose the camera wisely.

Top brands have various options in Digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) cameras for all purposes. Make sure to check the features before making payment.

3) How DSLR differs from Ordinary Digital Camera

By now you are certain that the camera you want has to be a DSLR.
People are crazy for DSLR cameras in spite of its higher price range. Those who have used both the cameras know that the DSLR picture quality is far superior to that of the other cameras. The speed of clicking and saving images is higher. The best part is that we have plenty of photographic options available in DSLR. You can blur objects or adjust the depth of the pictures.

4) Interchangeable lenses

Most of the DSLR cameras have the option of changing the lens. You can keep different lenses ready for various shooting needs. Interchangeable Zoom lenses are the most popular. Special purpose lenses are used for special purposes and are not used by all. For example, Fisheye lenses are used to take a 180-degree view.

5) Automatic Focus and Image Stabilization

DSLR cameras come with autofocus option. A number of autofocus modes are available depending on the model. Though the camera focuses on the object in the centre of the frame, many DSLRs allow changing the focus point. In that case, a switch is provided to move between Manual Focus and Autofocus (M/A).

If the ordinary camera is not held steady, the image blurs. This error is reduced in the DSLR with the Image Stabilisation technique. There are two types of Image Stabilizations:
* In-body Image Stabilization-
Image sensor is moved to counteract the sensed motion of the camera. It works for all lenses mounted on DSLR.

* In-lens Image Stabilization-
It is implemented in the lens itself to counteract the sensed motion of the camera. You will have to buy Image Stabilization lens separately.

6) Maintenance of a DSLR

After acquiring the brand new DSLR camera, you should be concerned about its maintenance.
Keep your camera and lenses clean and enhance the life of the gear. Unwanted things like dirt, dust, smoke or humidity can hinder the performance of the camera. Watch this video to know how to clean the gear with perfection. Get a basic cleaning kit and be regular in removing harmful substances from the DSLR.
Don’t miss the camera bag to carry your precious possession. Now you are ready to go creative with your DSLR.

Why do I Need me-time

Busy as we all are in our vicious circle of life, it becomes difficult to find time for ourselves. Sounds crazy but do you steal a few minutes from your busy schedule to take a nap during the day? I can’t remember the last time I indulged in dancing alone, once used to be my favourite pastime. We have some passions to follow and thus weave a web of work around them. In the process of chasing the dreams, we forget to add me-time to the routine.

Me-time! What’s that?

Search Google and you find the definition of Me-time as “time spent relaxing on one’s own as opposed to working or doing things for others, seen as an opportunity to reduce stress or restore energy”. One needs to replenish energy to get up and work again with enthusiasm. For some people, it’s not easy to accept but truth is that our efficiency depends on Me-time. When we take time out of our busy routine to make ourselves comfortable, health as well as creativity improve.

I actually experience the same. When there’s a lot of work to do, I switch on my audio system and relax for a while. It is not that I shy away from doing the job. A few precious solitary moments recharge me and I’m refreshed to face the big challenge. I think all of you must be having the same feeling. Extract some time from twenty-four hours and spend on yourself, if you are not doing it now.

Importance of Me-time

Let’s decode the need for me-time. There’s so much stress in today’s life that we don’t get time to unwind. As a result, the stress piles up to present a horrible picture. We become tired, less interested in work and bored with our surroundings.
Time spent on yourself is not selfish. If you care to do your work sincerely, me-time is essential. It acts as a catalyst for better and faster results. While doing the routine work we are mechanically guided. Usually, no importance is given to happiness and self-satisfaction. It is me-time that can bring happiness to your routine work.
Me-time is no wastage of time; it increases efficiency thereby reducing the time required to do the job.

How to have Me-time?

There’s no hard and fast criterion to spend me-time. It varies from person to person. Find out what relaxes you. For one person music can do magic while for the other it is unwanted noise. Make sure you spend your time doing what your heart says and not to please someone else. For me the following things work:

🐞 Deep breathing and Meditation

When I’m fed up with the routine and want to de-stress myself, deep breathing saves me. Deep-breathing cleanses our lungs by easing oxygen-carbon dioxide exchange. It also stabilises blood pressure and reduces stress. Works best if you quickly want to go back to the routine, fully energised.

🐞 Listening to Music

Music is not just entertainment, it soothes our minds. Music has the power to reduce anxiety and depression. My me-time includes music of my taste:D
Yes, not any kind of music helps relieve your anxiety. Say, if you play your pop music for your grandmother who doesn’t like it, her stress-level is going to shoot up;)

Ask her how she likes to spend her me-time:)

🐞 Taking a Nap

A short nap is my favourite me-time. It relieves me from undesirable stress and naturally induces deep breaths. If you have sufficient time, a short nap can be increased to 2-3 hour sleep. When tired and impatient, I choose to go to bed, for a short nap. It’s good for me and people around me;)

🐞 Calling a friend

Whether you are tired or irritated, or in doubt, call a close friend. It’s an effective remedy for setting everything right. A hearty chat decreases stress level to boost the mood.
Make sure the chat sessions don’t go beyond the time allotted to your me-time;)

🐞 Watching a Movie alone

You will have to make an extra effort to watch a movie alone. Movies, because they provide wholesome entertainment.
Alone, so that you can enjoy every bit without interference. Grab popcorn and cola, home-theatre or cinema hall, watch your favourite show at your favourite time:)

🐞 Creative Writing

In me-time, I write for myself. It doesn’t include replying to emails or messages. It can be a poem, silly or sensible, depending on my mood; a short story or just scribbles evolving from my free mind. Believe me, the words I write with a relaxed mind are the most loved by me.

Indian Education Needs An Overhaul

I am convinced that books are the ultimate source of information. It is because of books that we come to know about the nuances of the worlds around us. There’s a world of science that teaches us to distinguish between different textures. There’s a world of art that makes our senses react. We gather information to learn how to respond to a particular situation. Individual differences may change the response but basic reactions are almost the same. Books and other sources of information add to our knowledge. We keep piling up this knowledge and believe that we have learnt all. Here lies my question, an extension to my article on ‘Where India Lagged‘.

Rote Learning – Not a Solution

School education, especially in India, stresses on gaining knowledge by memorising loads of books. There’s a little difference between learning and memorizing if you ask our schools. Students are aware that their grades are completely dependent on how good their memorizing power is. Sad. A bright student who doesn’t believe in rote learning has to accept poor grades. On the other hand, an average student with excellent rote power excels in academics. Irony. As a result of the faulty education system, students passed out of the schools with flying colours do not know how to operate simple apparatus like Vernier Callipers and Screw Gauge! When these students enter institutions for higher education, their grasping power further slows down. Result?
Most of the times, Indian students can’t compete with students from Western countries.

Vicious Cycle Of Mediocrity

Knowledge without practical application fails at one point or the other. We should be prepared to put our knowledge into action. Without action, our knowledge is meaningless. I read somewhere that India has to cater to the education of millions of people. The country tries to impart basic information (read bookish) to most of the people. Not a very rich country as India is, it can’t provide practical experience to everyone that comes with the unavoidable expenditure. If this is the severity of the situation, we will never be able to come out of the vicious cycle of mediocrity.

Where’s the Respect for the Skilled

After Independence, in the process of developing, Indians lost respect for skilled people. People who work with hands are considered inferior to those who read and write. Shocking but true. You will be surprised to know that we prepare lakhs of engineers every year. Many of them, about 80-90% change their stream after graduation. Why?
Our engineering graduates are well-read people with little practical knowledge. The reason being the same; our grades largely depend on theoretical knowledge. Practical experience is required but only a formal certificate is enough to satisfy the authorities or the companies that hire them. After all, this is India.
These incomplete proofs of experience fall flat when our students get a chance to compete with the students of top foreign universities. Failure in the education system leads to many failed lives. Pause.

Analysing Application of Knowledge

🐞We are aware that acquiring knowledge is quite necessary for us. We can’t survive the life-game if we lack knowledge. Another question pops up.
Is the application of knowledge as important as knowledge? When we talk about skill-based training, it can’t be provided in confined places. Say, nobody can teach ‘how to swim’ within four walls of a classroom. Same is the case with many more things.

🐞 Heard somewhere that a person with a lot of knowledge but no practical experience is like a library whose doors are closed. Convinced! The application complements the knowledge and strengthens the concepts learnt. Moreover, the interest in the subject increases once we are clear about the practical aspects.

🐞 By practising what we gain as knowledge, we move towards perfection. It is true that the human brain always works for perfect results. One gets better results by bringing knowledge to practice. It boosts confidence as well as raises happiness level.

We strive to bring happiness in our lives and this is going to be one impeccable effort:)
