Scrap Single-Use Masks: Switch to Hemp Masks for Sustainable Society

Six months into the Covid19 pandemic and mankind has already started ruining the natural resources we are left with. There is a flood of single-use masks, single-use gloves, single-use PPE kits and many other things that are considered essential in this crucial time. These essentials cannot be ignored because it is the question of our existence. Have a look around and you can see hundreds of reusable masks that don’t pose a threat to the environment. Are these less effective than the single-use masks? I don’t think so. I found a good alternative to these masks. Hump reusable masks are equally good; when it comes to saving the environment, these are even better.

Why Hemp Masks?

‘Hemp Foundation’ is spreading awareness regarding Hemp by promoting Hemp farming and Hemp-based agro-industries. Hemp is used to make reusable masks that are undoubtedly environment friendly.

•Hemp Masks are made with hemp grown 100% organically.

•Hemp Masks do not pollute air, sea or land.

• The natural medicinal properties of hemp fabric make these masks safer than ordinary cloth or synthetic masks.

•Hemp masks are more breathable than the other alternatives.

•Hemp is naturally resistant to microbes and moth.

•The shape of the Hemp mask is perfect for the human face as it gives more space to breathe.

• Hemp Foundation claims to make masks that have more protective power than the other masks.

Single-Use Masks vs Reusable Masks

•Dr Richard Terry, the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs at LECOM in Elmira emphasized that protection offered by both kinds of masks is comparable. That means we can opt for any kind of mask and get equal protection from the virus.

•Though masks do not ensure 100% protection from the disease, wearing a mask helps reduce the contraction of coronavirus through respiratory droplets.

•We are heading towards a new society where wearing a mask will have to be made mandatory. It is advisable to go for reusable mask than the single-use one to decrease the man-generated debris in the oceans.
