‘With great stardom comes great tantrums.’
No, I’m not justifying the baseless tantrums thrown by Bollywood actors. I’m relishing the liberty these superstars are enjoying because we gave them the status to do so. It’s the power of the fans that artists recognize their importance and present weird lists of demands. The irony is that the fans who make these actors, the stars, are the most likely to endure the aftermath.
Many Bollywood actors are known to have an attitude and throw tantrums. The actors whom we adore onscreen, sometimes shatter our impression by behaving unruly.
Raj Kumar
Yesteryear’s superstar Raj Kumar refused to act in the movie ‘Zanjeer’ (1973) that made Amitabh Bachchan an overnight success. He directly told the filmmaker Prakash Mehra that he can’t work with a Director who applies ‘Chameli ka tel’ (jasmine oil) in his hair!
Can you imagine the real-life scene before your eyes?
Rajesh Khanna
Rajesh Khanna enjoyed unchallenged superstardom for many years. He was famous for throwing tantrums. Coming late on shooting sets was his normal behaviour. Most of the time, the film crew had to wait for 3 or more hours for Rajesh Khanna to arrive. Nobody had the guts to ask him about his unpunctuality, otherwise, they would lose their lead actor and the film could be shelved.
Kareena Kapoor Khan
Kareena Kapoor made it clear in the beginning of her career that she would work only with the A-listers. It was one of her earlier movies, ‘Heroine’ and she made it clear to Madhur Bhandarkar that she would work with the A-listers only. She’s not comfortable interacting with the fans and has been spotted behaving rudely a couple of times.
Katrina Kaif
While travelling by plane, the actress doesn’t interact directly with the air hostesses. She tells her manager what she wants and he conveys the message to the aeroplane crew. Once an air hostess woke her up to fasten her seat belt. The poor air hostess had to apologize for her mistake.
Kangana Ranaut
Whenever Kangana travels by air, she takes her assistant along but makes her sit in the Economy class while she herself travels by Business class. Things get worse when she asks the air hostess to go to the Economy class to fulfil the demands of her assistant. Another reason why Kangana is called the Drama queen of Bollywood.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
Aishwarya is the most demanding actresses when she is travelling by air. She would ask the air hostess to present all food items one by one and Aishwarya would choose the one she likes the most appealing. This is weird!
Ranveer Singh
Once Ranveer Singh was flying to Kolkata an air hostess asked her about food preference – Veg or non-veg? He asked her to come later. Later when he demanded non-veg food, it was finished. The actor became so furious that he even refused to drink water from the plane crew.
Sonam Kapoor
On the sets of MAUSAM, Sonam got angry to know that she was not allotted a single room. She waited outside for hours to get a room available for herself. Once got the room, she found her makeup man and spot boys missing. The result was evident. She rushed out of the set and came back only after many requests by the film crew.
Akshay Kumar
Akshay Khiladi Kumar once lost his cool when a group of over-enthusiastic fans crossed the limit and one of them patted on his back. Khiladi Akshay pushed the fans and scolded his bodyguards over security breach.
Sonakshi Sinha
Once Sonakshi was shooting for a Tamil film, Langaa directed by K.S. Ravikumar. She somehow was not happy with the hotel room provided to her and hence tweeted- “God, what have I done that you have found the worst hotel ever and put me in there”?
The behaviour was quite unprofessional, though later she deleted the tweet.

I am always late! What tantrums!! The Chameli ka tel was the ultimate 🙂 If I was given the chance even I would say no as I cannot stand strong smells.

Stardom and starry tantrum, arent they synonymous. Akshay, Sonam, Ranvir, Aishwarya, Sonakshi, Kareena, Katrina… all are on the list to show tantrums. Chameli ka tel, A-listers, coming late, single room, veg-nonveg, and especially while traveling, uff so much and this is only 10 to the list hahaha.
The movie with maximum British actors is Lagaan with all playing pivotal roles.

True stars are well known for their tantrums. Loved reading the incidents though in some cases I felt they are really over privileged

What an interesting read!! Learned about so many kinds of tantrums. For years we have been dealing with toddler tantrums but it’s scary to visualize how these star tantrums would have been dealt with!!
